Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has emphasized the need for professionalism in the broadcasting industry.
Speaking during a gala night organized in honor of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), Governor Mohammed stressed that the industry must uphold high standards of professionalism to remain relevant.
He noted that the era of “envelope journalism” is over, and journalists must now focus on delivering quality content that informs and educates the public.
The governor also highlighted the importance of training and capacity building for journalists. He observed that the industry is facing significant challenges, including inadequate funding and technological advancements, which require journalists to be equipped with the necessary skills to adapt.
Governor Mohammed pledged his administration’s support for the broadcasting industry, promising to provide the necessary resources to enhance its growth and development.
He also highlighted his administration’s efforts to develop the state’s economy, including the establishment of a solid mineral policy and the promotion of agriculture.
The gala night was attended by prominent personalities in the broadcasting industry, including the Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) as well as The Media Scholar Professor Umaru Pate.
